Fire damages house in Howland

HOWLAND, Ohio (WYTV) – A fire caused extensive damage to a house in Howland late Sunday night.

Flames broke out about 11:45 p.m. at a house in the  7,000 block of Micawber Road.The fire destroyed the garage and then spread to the house.

Howland Fire Chief James Pantalone said renovations were being done on the house.

“They were doing some rehab, so we are going to keep the residence secure. We will keep someone posted here all night,” Pantalone said. “We will be back tomorrow morning to do some investigation.”

Damage is estimated at about $120,000.

Siding on the homes next door sustained damage.

The state fire marshal will be at the scene Monday to determine a cause.
