Neighbors shocked by Girard child endangering, prostitution arrest

GIRARD, Ohio (WYTV) – Thursday, WYTV returned to the neighborhood where police arrested a Girard woman last week, charging her with soliciting prostitution and endangering children.

Neighbors told WYTV that they were shocked by the charges against Lori Parker, who pleaded no contest to the charges Wednesday. A judge found her guilty of both charges and sentenced her to two days in jail and one year of probation, as well as paying fines and costs.

“It’s sickening,” neighbor Kristie McCloskey. “She has children over there that she’s, you know, having sex with people to pay her rent. That’s gross. That’s sad.”

Police arrested Parker Friday afternoon after an undercover officer found she was soliciting sex and had a young child in her apartment, according to a police report.

Another neighbor, who declined to be identified, said, “It’s a big shock…She would walk down the road and talk to me, she was real nice.”

According to the police narrative in the report, an anonymous source told police that Parker was soliciting sex and had an infant child with her. Police gave an undercover cell phone number to Parker via the anonymous source, and Parker contacted them, offering sex for $75, according to the report.

Police then went to the woman’s apartment on North Davis St. in Girard, where an undercover officer knocked on her door and placed her under arrest when she answered and restated her offer of sex, the report states.

Officers entered the house and reported that there were insects throughout the house, as well as no fresh food in the refrigerator.

Officials with the Trumbull County Children Services Board removed two children from the apartment.

Parker is being held in the Trumbull County Jail until Friday.
