WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – The attorney for the Trumbull County Commissioners filed legal action Monday against two companies in connection with a sewer project granted to them in 2013.
Commissioners are suing excavating company Marucci & Gaffney, as well as Western Surety, for $1.3 million. The companies contracted with the county to fix sewer problems in Vienna.
Commissioners said that the companies were hired to fix sewer lines in Vienna but have missed a number of deadlines.
Trumbull County Commissioner Frank Fuda said that the companies’ work is going to cost more than $400,000 more than the highest bid originally turned in for the sewer line project. Commissioners hired the companies as the lowest bidders about two years ago.
First News reporter Derrick Lewis called Marucci & Gaffney to get a response on the lawsuit. The operator who answered the phone said on behalf of the company, at this time “we do not have a comment.”
