4 charged in North Jackson house shoot-up

JACKSON TWP., Ohio (WYTV) – A Mahoning County grand jury indicted four people Thursday, charging that they were involved in firing eight shots into a house in North Jackson in August.

A grand jury charged Ryan Crissman, Derek Hopson, Cady Unger and an unnamed juvenile with attempted murder, felonious assault, and improperly discharging a firearm. Crissman, Hopson and Unger are also charged with endangering children, as investigators believe that Unger’s teenage brother was with the group during the shooting.

According to Jackson Police Chief Greg Taillon, the group of four shot up a home on Bailey Rd. in North Jackson in the early-morning hours of Aug. 26. Taillon said that their investigation has shown that the shooting was an act of retaliation and that the group had knowledge of where people in the house would have been sleeping, leading to the attempted murder charge.

The shooting did not injure anyone.

The U.S. Marshals Service arrested Crissman Friday, and police are seeking Unger for arrest. Hopson was already incarcerated when the grand jury made their indictment, and Howland Police picked up the Juvenile on Sept. 25, according to Taillon.
