NEW MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Everything must go. That was the theme at a school auction Saturday in New Middletown.
With class dismissed for good at the old Springfield Elementary School, Baer Auctioneers sold off what was left.
Buyers could get classroom equipment, chairs and shelves. There were also industrial appliances in the cafeteria.
For many, the sale was one last chance to walk through the old school before crews demolish the building.
“It is still great to have my grandchildren live here and go to the new school,” said Carol Chaszeyka. “I think it is, like anybody that goes back, you have such warm memories. It was nice to come to day to see that.”
The old Springfield Elementary School was built in 1923. Students moved into a new building with state-of-the-art technology last month.
