Canfield, OH (WYTV) – The Canfield boys soccer team overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit to defeat Cardinal Mooney, 2-1 Wednesday in a Division II District Semifinal.
Mooney got off to a nice start off a corner kick, which Christopher Perry headed in for the game’s first goal. Mooney led 1-0 at halftime.
But Canfield would rally just three minutes into the 2nd half, when Tanor English passed off to R.J. Thomas, who ripped in the equalizer with his left foot.
Then just 4 minutes later, off a throw-in by Sam Accordino, the ball took a nice bounce, and Tanor English flicked it in for the go-ahead goal.
Canfield improves to 12-4-2 and advance to play Poland in the District Finals Saturday. Mooney’s season comes to an end with a 7-9-2 overall record.
