Guns seized during traffic stop in Cortland

CORTLAND, Ohio (WYTV) – A man was arrested in Cortland late Tuesday after police found guns in his car during a traffic stop.

Police stopped a vehicle on South High Street and discovered the driver had an active warrant out of Kinsman.

The driver told officers he had firearms in the vehicle.

Police seized a Springfield XD 45 and a loaded 12 gauge shotgun.

The suspect was charged with two counts of improperly handling firearms and taken to the Trumbull County Jail.

Police will release the suspect’s name later Wednesday morning when reports are approved by the chief of police.
