2015-16 Champion Flashes’ Girls’ Basketball Preview
Head Coach: Michael Cole
Record: 8-14 (4-10), AAC Blue Tier

Season in Review
Champion’s 2014-15 season was filled with growing pains as well as high moments which included a 3 point win over Poland (62-59) in mid-February. The team was led by Molly Williams, Izzy D’Urso, Brittany Allen and Haley Dean as well as by freshman Megan Turner. The Flashes averaged 42.4 points per game as they were able to post 8 victories overall. Champion fell in the Sectional Semifinal round to eventual District champ Garrettsville Garfield, 50-23.

Key Loss
Brittany Allen (6.4 ppg, 3.1 rpg)

Key Returnees
The Flashes return four starters. A pair of juniors – Molly Williams (9.7) and Izzy D’Urso (8.0) – are the returning leading scorers. Williams also hauled down 3 boards a game while D’Urso grabbed 3.6 caroms and finished with 2 steals per contest. Haley Dean, a senior, averaged 4.9 points and 6.5 rebounds last year. Megan Turner, as a freshman, closed out the campaign with 5.5 points and 8 rebounds per outing.

“We’ll look to improve on our overall (record) and league win totals,” says coach Michael Cole. “Depth and versatility is our strength. We plan on creating a fast-paced, high-scoring brand of basketball.”
