Teen pleads guilty to kidnapping child for sex offender

LISBON, Ohio (WYTV) — A Wellsville teenager pleaded guilty to helping arrange for a 7-year-old East Liverpool boy to meet with a sexual predator who ended up molesting the child.

The Morning Journal reports that Cody McDole, 18, pleaded guilty to kidnapping the child, a second-degree felony that carries a maximum sentence of eight years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced on January 15 in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court.

His alleged accomplice, 19-year-old Daniel Wilcox, is still awaiting trial on his kidnapping charges.

Prosecutors say that McDole and Wilcox planned to meet with Erwin Brown, a registered sex offender, and talked the boy into going with them. Police reports say the child refused to cooperate and kicked the man in his “bad area”.

Brown then stopped at a Wellsville bank and paid McDole and Wilcox $160 for bringing him the child, the Morning Journal reported.

Brown, of East Liverpool, pleaded guilty last August to his role in the crime and was sentenced to 10 years to life in prison for the charges.
