Benefit raises funds for Girard baby's medical costs

GIRARD, Ohio (WYTV) – People in Girard gathered at the Creekside Golf Dome on Saturday to help support a baby battling hydrocephalus.

Evan was born on September 29th and had his first surgery at just ten days old.

He underwent a second surgery just a week after because fluid was building up around his brain.

Friend of the family, George Davis, held the benefit that included a spaghetti dinner, 50-50 raffle, Chinese auction, corn hole tournament and bake sale.

“Everybody here has been such a blessing to our family, and especially George Davis. None of this would have been possible without him,” said Evan’s father, Matthew Jones.

All of the proceeds are going to help the family with medical costs.
