Candlelight vigil comforts families affected by suicide

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – Families who have lost loved ones to suicide gathered to support one another Saturday night.

A candlelight vigil was held at Victory Christian Center in memory of the lives lost.

Families heard encouraging words to help them get through tough times. Some of the people who attended shared their personal stories.

Mary Kopiak, organizer of the vigil, says this event makes a difference.

“I think they can find comfort knowing they are not alone. There are other people who have walked the walk…it’s a big problem.”

This is the 17th year for the vigil. Kopiak started it after her daughter died in November 1998.
