YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – The holiday travel season is upon us and it’s important to practice safe driving habits, such as allowing time for bad weather and designating a driver.
Drivers can expect to see more police if they’re traveling for Thanksgiving. Though this is a fun and festive time of year, patrols will be out making sure that drivers behave and are having responsible fun.
“If you’re going to be out driving this weekend, next weekend and through the holidays, you just need to drive responsibly. It’s a good time of the year to start designating a driver with all the parties coming up,” said Sgt. Bret Henderson of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
According to the State Highway Patrol’s numbers, there have been 15 deadly crashes this year where alcohol was involved in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull Counties. There were just 12 in all last year.
