YOUNGSTOWN, OH (WYTV) – The Covelli Centre announced Thursday morning that Sir Elton John will be making a return appearance early next year.

One of the top-selling pop artists of all time, Elton John and his band will do one show at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22 at the downtown Youngstown arena. It’s part of his Wonderful Crazy Night Tour 2016.

According to a press release from the Covelli Centre, the show is part of a nine-city concert tour that will feature iconic hits and classic album tracks from throughout his incredible five-decade career, as well as selected tracks from his upcoming album Wonderful Crazy Night.

His band features Nigel Olsson (part of Elton’s original three-piece band) on drums, Davey Johnstone (who first recorded with Elton in 1971 and joined the band a year later) on guitar, John Mahon on percussion, Kim Bullard on keyboards and Matt Bissonette on bass.

Elton John says in the release that he fondly remembers his first visit to Youngstown in 2010. That concert was considered a game changer for the Covelli Centre and its ability to attract major artists.

He also appeared here in 2014.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sir Elton John back to Youngstown, OH at the Covelli Centre,” said Eric Ryan, General Manager of the Covelli Centre, in the release. “He has given us the most historic and breathtaking performances, and it will be an absolute honor to have him grace the Covelli Centre stage again!”

Tickets go on sale on Friday, Dec. 11 at 10 a.m.
