Hickory preps for state quarterfinals

Hickory's Chuck Carr scored three touchdowns while breaking the school's single season record for rushing.

HERMITAGE, Pennsylvania (WYTV) – For the 5th straight season the Hickory football team is in the State Quarterfinals.

The Hornets will take on Central Martinsburg this Saturday afternoon.  But their expectations lie far beyond this weekend.

“We’re tired of D-10 Championships,” Senior Lineman Anthony Nardone said. “We’re ready to go to the next level, and we just want to take that next step and bring home that state ring. But we know we gotta face what’s in front of us. We can’t look ahead. We’ve got Central Martinsburg in front of us. That’s all we gotta focus on.”

Fellow senior and Penn State recruit Andrew Pryts echoes those sentiments.

“Yeah, I think that’s the safe thing to say. Tired. We’ve been here five years in a row now. I know a lot of the kids played early. So, a lot of the seniors were sophomores and were playing. So, ya know, for us, we kinda are tired. We’re ready to take the next step and get to states,” said Pryts.

The Hornets and Scarlet Dragons will kickoff this Saturday afternoon at 1PM at DuBois High School.
