Organization provides house for homeless Youngstown men

Rise Above the River is providing a house for homeless Youngstown men.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – On Saturday night, a few homeless men in Youngstown will be spending their first night in a new house.

Organizers from Rising Above the River worked together with a homeowner to clean up the house for four men.

Over the past year, the organization has worked to provide homes for people in need.

Some moving into the house have been homeless for more than 20 years.

“It’s really sad and they’re really nice guys,” Vice President Executive Director Kathleen Mace said. “People just don’t give them a break. They look at them and say, ‘No.’ If you get to know them and you hear their story, we all have issues. They have issues…they’re great people.”

Rising Above the River is asking for donations to help make the house more livable. If you are interested in helping, you can contact Mace at 330-501-4023.
