FARRELL, Pa. (WYTV) – A Farrell man was arrested after officers were sent to investigate an assault on Pennsylvania Avenue early Tuesday morning.
The Southwest Mercer County Regional Police Department charged Mearlon Peterson, 39, with burglary, robbery, criminal trespass, possession of instruments of crime, theft, receiving stolen property, assault, reckless endangerment of another person, disorderly conduct, DUI and driving under a suspended license.
Police said Peterson entered the victim’s home through an unlocked door and went into her bedroom, where she was asleep. Peterson then began choking the alleged victim, who was able to get free and run to her basement, calling 911, according to a news release from the police department.
Peterson is accused of taking money, an iPhone and a television from the home after the attack. He was arrested after police spotted him driving behind the home and after a brief chase near Beechwood Avenue and Union Street.
