Not sleeping enough can actually be the reason for significant weight gain.
When suffering from sleep deprivation, the brain releases more dopamine and serotonin. By changing these chemicals, it increases cravings for certain kinds of food, mostly foods full of fat and high in sugar.
Sleep deprivation results in heavier caloric intake and causes weight gain.
