'Christmas at the Lake' benefits homeless women, children

POLAND, Ohio (WYTV) – The Lake Club in Poland was filled with holiday spirit on Sunday, at an event benefiting disadvantaged women and children.

Proceeds went to the Beatitude House in Youngstown, which hosts “Christmas at the Lake” each year.

Children made Christmas cookies, reindeer food and hats. They also enjoyed brunch and entertainment, including music and a magician. Frosty the Snowman and Elsa from “Frozen” also made appearances.

“For those who have lost something, have broken relationships, have come out of abusive situations, Christmas can be a really down time. We really want to build up their spirits and let them know what the spirit of giving is,” Sister Janet Gardner said.

The Beatitude House creates homes, provides educational opportunities and fosters healthy families through its many programs.
