LISBON, Ohio (WYTV) – The Morning Journal is reporting that Beaver Local and United Local schools will not receive the additional state funding that they thought they would in the coming year.
The Columbiana County schools realized this after Beaver Local treasurer, Stacy Williams, noticed that the monthly state funding allocations hadn’t changed.
A revision was made to the new two-year budget passed by the state legislature in June. The budget was supposed to increase funding for each district in the county.
While the remaining districts will still see an increase, Beaver Local and United Local will not.
Williams is disappointed to learn this, saying that Beaver Local is dependent upon state funding and this will have an impact on how the students are educated.
