Youngstown PD: Baby taken into custody after gun battle

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Mahoning County Children Services took custody of an 8-month-old baby girl on Christmas Day, after police say her mother brought her along for a gun battle and car chase.

Officers responded to a call from a woman around 1:00 Christmas morning. She said she was at the Shell gas station on Market St., when someone stood out of the sunroof of a vehicle driving by and shot at her.

She told police she followed the vehicle, whose occupants continued firing from the sunroof, down Market St. and Florida Ave. until police stopped it at E. Avondale Ave. and Gibson St.

Police arrested Jalisha Wylie, 18, of Girard and charged her with child endangerment.

Anthony Stigal, 19, and Vashuad May, 13, both of Youngstown, are charged with felonious assault.

YPD says that Wylie, the baby’s mother,  was driving the vehicle that contained five occupants, including Stigal and May.

Police also recovered two guns from the car.
