HOWLAND, Ohio (WYTV) – A house on Ravenwood Drive Southeast in Howland caught fire Sunday night.
Officials say no one was living in the home, but it is a total loss.
The fire destroyed the inside of the rental home that was in the process of being remodeled.
Howland Fire Chief James Pantalone says a person driving by called 911 around 8:15, saying they could see what appeared to be a fire.
When crews arrived on the scene, fire was coming out of the front of the house. There were so many flames that they had to cut a hole in the roof for ventilation.
“All the utilities have been secured. We will be doing some board up on it, keep it secure overnight,” Pantalone said. “We are going to continue with investigation this evening for a couple hours, just see if we can narrow down the area of origin or kind of what went on here, try to…put the puzzle together.”
Crews from both Weathersfield and Vienna were also called out to assist Howland in tackling the fire.
