YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A business owner on the South Side of Youngstown is giving back to his community by offering free meals to anyone in need.
Conroy’s Party Shop, in collaboration with Chef J.C., cooked about 500 Christmas dinners on Sunday at the store on South Avenue.
Santa stopped by to give toys to the kids, and Step It Up Cuts provided free haircuts.
The event was open to the public because Lenny, the owner of Conroy’s, wanted to do something nice for people in the area.
“It’s important for the community to know that people care, because everyone that thinks about the word ‘Youngstown’ is always bad,” said co-organizer Victoria Allen. “We want the world to know that Youngstown is not always bad. There are good people in Youngstown and people who want to do positive things for those in their neighborhood.”
About 400 people showed up for the event.
