West Branch School Board accepts superintendent’s resignation

Doug Phillips, former West Branch superintendent

BELOIT, Ohio (WYTV) — The West Branch School Board officially accepted the resignation of Superintendent Doug Phillips and named an interim superintendent on Tuesday.

Former Superintendent Dr. Scott Weingart will serve as interim for the remainder of the school year, reports the Morning Journal.

Phillips, who replaced the retiring Weingart as superintendent in August, is taking an administrative position within the football program at Iowa State University. His resignation is effective Thursday.

Phillips spent just five months at the helm and said he wasn’t looking for a new job when the offer came along.

According to the Morning Journal, Weingart has been working part-time in curriculum and staff development for the district since his retirement. His compensation hasn’t been determined.
