CANFIELD, Ohio (WYTV) – The Canfield Library is close to opening after construction on the building, which began in October of 2014.
The building was too small for its customers. It was also without a conference room.
The construction added on more than 1,300 square feet to the building. During the project, a temporary library was set up inside the Mill Creek Farm.
Heidi Daniel, the executive director of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, said construction is finished. Now, crews are just putting the final touches on the inside of the building to get it ready for the public.
Daniel said this building has some unique features, like a children’s learning center that targets a younger audience.
“That includes a lot of interactive items with specific learning outcomes. We’ve got bugs in acrylic, and we even got a special space for crawlers who are not walking yet,” she said.
The library doors are scheduled to open in about two weeks.
