Last Meeting
…What a scene it was at the Beeghly Center as the PIAA March Madness was upon the state of Ohio. Farrell received a game-high contribution from Leon Lewis, who scored 22, and Thomas Ripley added 12 as the Steelers outlasted Kennedy in overtime (57-53).

Farrell’s success
Whether Farrell’s in Region 5 or Region 1, the Steelers have won back-to-back league championships in as many years. In 2013-14, Farrell won 13 of 16 matchups in Region 5 to capture the title. Last year, Farrell finished the year unbeaten in Region 1 to top the league at 10-0.

Kennedy’s streak came to an end
Last year, the Kennedy Catholic boys’ basketball team did not win the Region 1 title ending a two-year streak (2012-13, 2013-14) as the champion.

Notes
According to the Harrisburg Patriot News, Kennedy Catholic is ranked #1 and Farrell is listed at #3 in the statewide poll this week.

Last week, Malik Miller passed Donald Jackson and Dave Johnson to score the fifth most points in Farrell basketball history. The top four are: Marsell Holden (1514), Julius McCoy (1471), Gravelle Craig (1425), and Shawn Roberts (1386).

On Friday, Farrell dominated Commodore Perry – 92-27. Terrance Holloway led all scorers with 26 points and Malik Miller added 16 (6 assists).

Since falling to Aliquippa (51-37) on December 29, the Golden Eagles have won their last five in a row by an average of 79 to 35.

Kennedy defeated VisionQuest, 91-37, on Friday. Sagaba Konate had 23 while Maceo Austin tallied 17. On Saturday, the Eagles were back at it again by topping Greenville – 70-51. Drew Magestro connected on four three-point baskets for a game-high 22 points.
