Gasoline cheaper with record low oil prices

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Mahoning Valley gasoline prices continue to drop in response to record low prices for crude oil.

The AAA Monday morning survey for the Youngstown-Warren metro area had regular gas averaging $1.73 a gallon. That’s down 11-cents over the last week.

The Gas Buddy website shows the lowest prices in the city of Youngstown. Several stations were at $1.60.

Even in Warren, Austintown and Boardman, stations were posting numbers in the $1.60s. In Sharon, the Country Fair on East State Street had gas for $1.90 a gallon.

Gas Buddy’s Patrick DeHaan says gas stations actually make more money when oil prices are falling. That’s because pump prices fall more slowly than the cost of crude.
