CANFIELD, Ohio (WYTV) – School districts in Mahoning County are looking for substitute teachers, with a countywide shortage. Struthers, Austintown, Canfield and Boardman are some of the districts looking for substitutes.
To help fill these open positions, the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center is hosting a teacher job fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday at MCCTC’s Joyce Brooks Center.
Cheryl McArthur, who works in human resources at the Mahoning County Educational Service Center, said the job is perfect for someone who is looking for a flexible workload.
“Substitutes have the opportunity to work as much as they want, because they self-select the jobs,” she said. “So the substitute will log in and see what’s available and choose the sites they want to go work at the next day, or even in the future if it’s something that is scheduled ahead of time.”
Even if you don’t have a degree in education, you can still apply. If you have a bachelor’s degree, you are eligible to apply for a substitute teaching license.
