PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania (WYTV) – Sports Team 27 has learned that Cardinal Mooney graduate and former Pittsburgh Panthers’ Safety Ray Vinopal has signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Last Spring, Vinopal signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Dallas Cowboys.  He sustained a sprained ankle against the Chargers in preseason action and was later released.

Vinopal started all fourteen games for the Panthers during his senior campaign.  He racked up 68 tackles and 2 tackles-for-loss, with two interceptions and two forced fumbles.  The Youngstown native was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 2 Football Team.  Vinopal was also an ACC All-Academic Football Team honoree.
