WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – The community of Warren honored Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday.
About 30 people gathered at the YWCA, where they enjoyed doughnuts and juice. They also heard from five speakers, who discussed empowerment and education, as well as health problems affecting the area.
One speaker was Dr. William Pinn. He discussed race in America and said when the community is educated, it functions much better.
“There’s race problems all over the place,” he said. “It’s something that hasn’t gone away, probably won’t go away, but we can make it better.”
He said he hoped that all the guests would leave with some empowerment.
