CORTLAND, Ohio (WYTV) – The man who said he called 911 moments after he had just shot his wife is due in court Wednesday afternoon.
Ricky Green, 59, appeared in Trumbull County Central District Court in Cortland. He is accused of shooting his wife inside their Greene Township home Sunday. Green pleaded not guilty, and his defense attorney said that the shooting was accidental.
“I believe Ricky told me it was an accident. He loved her and didn’t intend it to happen. It’s a very sad, unfortunate matter,” said Green’s attorney, Gary Rich.
In the 911 call to police, Green calmly said he had just shot his wife because he said she was cheating on him.
He is charged with murder and is on suicide watch at the Trumbull County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
