BOARDMAN, Ohio (WYTV) – A strong December sales month means more money for needy kids.
Doug Sweeney, of Sweeney Chevrolet, promised to donate $50 dollars from each new car sold in the holiday season.
Wednesday, Sweeney presented a check to The United Way for more than $24,000 to the charity.
The donation is called “Operation Santa Claus” at the dealership.
United Way’s Bob Hannon says the money will pay for programs for needy children.
“It will help with our after-school program, feed those children, provide transportation,” Hannon said. “So this is local, local, local. Doug is local, our United Way is local and the people that it helps live right here.”
The donations have been made through Operation Santa Claus since 2013.
