AUSTINTOWN TWP., Ohio (WYTV) – A break in a small, private waterline makes for a big mess in Austintown Township.
The Youngstown Water Department says the pipe that supplies water to a private business at the corner of Mahoning Avenue and Fitch Blvd. broke, spilling thousands of gallons of water on nearby roadways.
Complicating the effort to shut the water off was a broken access tube that the water department uses to close a valve in such situations.
Temperatures well below freezing were adding to the problem. You’re asked to use caution, especially driving on Fitch Blvd.
The water department says the business owner will be responsible for repairs.
