COLUMBIANA, Ohio (WYTV) – Now in its 7th year, the Annual Benefit Chili Cook-off was held Sunday at the Columbiana American Legion Post 290.
There was a Chinese Auction, two gun raffles and a 50/50 drawing, along with all of the mouthwatering food in the competition.
Proceeds from the event will benefit local Blue Star Mothers, an organization for mothers of children who are serving or have served in the military.
“All of our young men and women overseas, mom and dad are worried about them. Having been there myself, I know what it’s like to be away from the family,” Richard Simpson said. “The Blue Star Mothers are very supportive of each other and the veterans that are past and present, the ones that are working.”
The goal of the benefit was to raise at least $2,000, and it was quickly met.
