YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – For the first time in the long history of YSU’s School of Nursing, a white coat ceremony was held on Monday evening.
White coats were handed out to 112 sophomores in the YSU nursing program. The coats signify the progress they’ve made so far, though they still have a while to go before graduating.
From here, the nursing students will move into the clinical part of the program.
“They will start out in long-term care this semester,” Dr. Nancy Wagner said. “They’ll go into the hospital, and they’ll have hospital experiences throughout the rest of their time at YSU.”
In a previous version of this story, we reported that Youngstown State has the only bachelor’s degree nursing program in the area. Kent State University’s Salem and Trumbull campuses also offer bachelor’s degrees in nursing. We regret the error.
