Poland girls notch 20th win of season


Poland, OH (WYTV) – The Poland girls basketball team defeated Salem, 66-54 Wednesday in the regular season finale for both teams.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a quick start and led 36-27 at halftime. The Quakers won the third quarter, 15-10, but Poland finished strong in the fourth quarter to cap off the victory.

Bella Gajdos scored a game-high 20 points for Poland, while dishing out 5 assists. Sarah Bury also contributed 18 points and 5 steals, and Maggie Sebest added 8 points.

Chloe Cheresne led the Quakers with 19 points, while Alle Davidson-Chuck added 15.

Poland finishes the regular season with a 20-2 record and will host the winner of West Branch/Crestwood on February 18th in the D2 State Tournament. Salem falls to 9-13 and will play the winner of Howland/Hubbard on February 18th.
