Girard uses size to take down Springfield

Girard, OH (WYTV) – The Girard boys basketball team used a balanced attack to defeat Springfield, 60-57 Tuesday at Girard High School.

The Indians held the size advantage all night, and led 26-22 at halftime. The Tigers kept things tight in the second half and trailed by just two heading to the final frame. But Girard built a big enough lead to hold on for the win down the stretch.

Girard had three players in double figures, led by Darrian Tiggett with 15 points, Mike Guyer with 12, and Mark Standohar 11.

Springfield’s Graham Mincher led all scorers with 24 points. Jake Ford added 17, and Jordan Capoullez 12 for the Tigers.

With the win, Girard improves to 13-9 overall, while Springfield falls to 17-4 on the season.
