WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – Police say a woman beat a man inside her home so severely it broke a metal broomstick into three pieces.

Officers were called about 12:20 a.m. Friday to a home on Williamsburg Street after the victim called 911 and said that Monica Massey, 41, was beating him with a broomstick.

When police arrived they found the victim bleeding with bite marks and other lacerations on his body.

The victim told police the altercation began in the living room of the house where he says Massey punched him in the face. She then followed him to an upstairs bedroom and began beating him on the head and body with a broomstick and continued beating him even as he called 911.

The man said he was downstairs smoking a cigarette, but said Massey thought he was talking to another woman on the phone.

Massy left the house before police arrived, but was spotted by another patrol unit driving on Mahoning Avenue. She was arrested and is being held in the Trumbull County Jail on felonious assault.

Emergency crews treated the victim at the scene.

Pieces of the broomstick, which had the victim’s blood on them, were taken as evidence.
