YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – An East High School student is going through what Youngstown Schools Superintendent Stephen Stohla is calling “due process” after a few students were scared over an item in his backpack.
Stohla said a report came in to his office Monday morning that a student had a gun. An investigation revealed that the student had a butane lighter, about the size of a hand, in his backpack. Another student saw the lighter and thought it was a gun. The lighter did not work, according to Stohla.
The student claims he didn’t know the lighter was in his backpack, Stohla said.
