Dead puppies found on Sharon road near shoebox

SHARON, Pa. (WYTV) – The Mercer County Humane Society is asking for the public’s help to find out how two dead puppies ended up on the side of Forker Boulevard in Sharon.

A woman was driving near the Buhl Park around 11 a.m. Thursday when she discovered the puppies, which were near a shoebox on the side of the road. The Humane Society said the puppies were likely inside the box at some point because of the visible blood stains.

When the puppies were found, their umbilical cords were still attached.

WYTV is not showing photos of the puppies, as they could be considered graphic to some viewers. They were identified as a pit bull mix.

“Whoever did this, I mean regardless of whether the puppies were still born or died naturally, I feel they have no compassion for life or death with the animals, to leave them on the side of the road,” said Renee Dorogy, a humane police officer.

A veterinarian said it would be hard to determine the cause of their death. The puppies will be cremated at Hillcrest Pet Funeral Home and Crematory.

A $500 reward is being offered for information that leads to an animal cruelty citation. You can contact the Humane Society of Mercer County at (724) 981-5445.
