STRUTHERS, Ohio (WYTV) – Police arrested a Struthers woman Thursday, charging that she allowed her house to fall into disrepair and wasn’t feeding a child in her care.

The U.S. Marshal’s Service arrested Renee Heydle, 53, after she had been charged with fourth-degree felony child endangering.

Struthers Police said they filed the charges with the city prosecutor’s office Monday after discovering the house’s condition Friday, Feb. 26.

A Struthers Police officer said while driving by the house on Creed Street, he noticed that the door was open, then got in contact with a child of Heydle’s, who gave him permission to search the property for intruders.

Police did not find anyone in the home, but said they did find filthy conditions inside, no running water, no food and no working heat in the house. A police report says moldy food and clothing was scattered around the home, as well as empty beer bottles and cigarette butts.

City officials have condemned the house, and no one can live there until repairs are made.

The child told police that she was staying with a relative, because Heydle wasn’t providing her with food or other necessities.

Police said Heydle had her arraignment Friday, posted bond and went free. Contact information for Heydle was not available.
