BOARDMAN, Ohio (WYTV) – Boardman Police arrested a woman Wednesday afternoon after a couple said she pulled a gun on them while walking their dog in Boardman Park.

Tonya Woolensack, 41, is charged with tampering with evidence, aggravated menacing and carrying a concealed weapon.

The incident took place by the Maag Theater around 2 p.m.

According to a police report, the couple started arguing with Woolensack and another male after their dogs started fighting in the park. The argument escalated, and Woolensack pulled out a handgun and threatened to shoot one of the men, according to the female witness.

The female then called 911, and police located the suspects in the park, along with a backpack containing a gun and Woolensack’s coat inside, according to police. The tampering with evidence charge came because police said she took off her coat and tried to distance herself from the backpack.

Boardman Park had a rule against guns, but had to change it a few years ago to follow state and federal laws.

No one was hurt during the incident.
