Irritable Bowel Syndrome, or IBS, is caused by having a spastic colon and about 12 percent of people experience it.
When your colon is spastic, the muscle around it contracts and triggers most of the symptoms that patients experience. These symptoms include abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, gas and diarrhea, among other, more dangerous symptoms.
