Grove City man sentenced for using deceased mother’s benefits


PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WYTV) — A Grove City man was sentenced in federal court after he was convicted of using his deceased mother’s Social Security benefits.

Alexander Viskovatoff, 57, was sentenced to two years of probation and was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $27,309. He was charged with theft of government property after an investigation into the use of the benefits, which occurred around January 2011 to September 2012.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Shardul S. Desai prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, and the investigation was led by the Social Security Administration, Office of Inspector General, according to a news release from the Pennsylvania Department of Justice.
