CORTLAND, Ohio (WYTV) – “I just want to go home,” is what police say a driver told them after he flipped the car he was driving and ended up in a ditch in Cortland.
Officers were called about 10 p.m. Thursday to the area of North High Street and Phillips Rice Road where Calvin Shaw, 23, lost control around a curve, hit a culvert and went airborne before flipping over and hitting a utility pole, which sheared in half.
Police said the car was traveling at about 80 miles per hour and left 295 feet of skid marks on the road.
Shaw registered a .208 on a blood alcohol test, more than two times the legal limit.
Shaw was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He is charged with OVI and is scheduled to appear in Central District Court on Monday.
