Key Returnees: The strength of the team will focus in on two aspects – senior leadership and pitching. The Cardinals return a ton of senior leaders including Joey Machuga (1st-team AAC), Ryan Cheslik (1st-team AAC), and Pete Hernandez (1st-team AAC). Machuga hit .290 (27-93) and was the team leader in innings pitched (42.0), strikeouts (28), and wins (4-3). Cheslik led the group in hitting (.397), runs scored (24) and stolen bases (12) while driving in 15 runs. Ryan also threw 24 innings and posted a 3-3 mark with a 3.50 ERA. Hernandez closed out the season with 8 extra base hits (7 doubles, 1 triple) and a team leading 21 RBIs. Other seniors returning are Luke Kelty (3.25 ERA, 2-4 W-L), Joey Delucia (.288 BA, 16 RBIs), Alex Thompson (.366 BA; 3.88 ERA, 1-2 W-L), and Matt Pappas (.296 BA). Canfield also welcomes back juniors Mark Wittmann (.304 BA, 8 RBIs), Anthony Joseph (.318 BA) and Anthony Vross (8 RBIs; 1.72 ERA, 3-1 W-L). Sophomores Anthony Longo, Angelo Petracci, Jack Rafoth and Ian McGraw will all see more time on the varsity roster this year.

Outlook: The Cardinals were in the hunt for the league title until the final day of the 2015 season. Canfield also advanced to the district final. Now the question becomes – can they take the next step and take the league crown and win the district?
