Ambulance crashes into car, overturns in Vienna


VIENNA, Ohio (WYTV) – An ambulance overturned in Vienna Township on Saturday afternoon after crashing into another vehicle.

The accident occurred just before 12:30 on Sodom Hutchings Road, south of State Route 82. A 2011 Ford “Life Fleet” ambulance was traveling northbound in emergency response with lights and siren activated, and attempted to go around a car.

The driver of the 2007 GMC Envoy, also traveling northbound, made a left turn as the ambulance was in the process of overtaking stopped traffic.

The ambulance struck the car, and overturned into a ditch on the side of the road.

Both of the car’s occupants were taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The two people in the ambulance were not injured. The ambulance was not transporting any patients at the time.

The driver of the Envoy was cited for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.
