'Olympic Dreams' Hosts State Gymnastics Meet

Niles, OH (WYTV) – The best young gymnasts in the State of Ohio gathered in Niles today for the USA Gymnastics State Championships, and thanks to a local gym, all the action is taking place right here in the Valley.

Nearly 12 hundred gymnasts ages 7 to 18 gathered for the State Meet this weekend at the Ralph Infante Wellness Center. ‘Olympic Dreams’, a gym out of Liberty, hosted the big event…a culmination to all their hard work.Gary and Dawn Toussaint have owned and coach ‘Olympic Dreams’ for the past 23 years.

“This has taken about six months to plan and organize and everything is coming just great,” said Gary. “In our state, we have some of the best kids in the country so it’s pretty exciting to watch. It’s just amazing to be in this kind of environment.”

“They do work really hard, but when they’re having a good time and having fun it doesn’t seem like it’s hard work because they really enjoy learning new skills,” said Dawn.

“I’d say I’m very competitive” said Claire Gagliardi, a Level 10 gymnast. “Every single meet I do its just, I just want to try my best every single time.”

“I’m really excited, I’m really excited to compete,” said Grace Anderson, a Level 6 gymnast.

“I’ve been doing since I was little so it’s a sport that I really love,” said Addison Sarisky, also a Level 6 competitor.

“It’s fun to see them smiling and getting out there and showing off,” said Dawn Toussainst. “So it’s just nice to see how far they’ve come and where their hard work has taken them.”
