WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – After months of fundraising, Grace African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church purchased a handicap accessible minibus to help some of its members.
It will be used for multiple outreach programs, including youth programs.
Minnie Canty, who is 100 years old, has been pushing to get the bus for years.
On Sunday, she was able to board it for the first time at the church’s dedication ceremony. She was overjoyed and excited for the members who will be able to use it.
“We’re also looking forward to doing it as an outreach ministry to maybe assisted living and people that are homebound or weren’t coming to church without the handicap accessibility,” said William Strother, member of the Church Trustee Board.
Individuals requesting a ride to church on Sunday should call the office at 330-394-6270 by Wednesday of each week.
