NILES, Ohio (WYTV) – A Weathersfield woman who had 24 dogs taken from her home was charged Monday with animal cruelty.
Theresa McBride, 66, was charged in Niles Municipal Court with the second degree misdemeanor. She is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday on the charges.
Humane agents removed the dogs from McBride’s Ohltown McDonald Road home on March 24 after Weathersfield police officers were called to the house on a dark barking complaint.
Police found McBride living among the animals, clutter and excrement. She was immediately taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation.
All of the dogs were taken to the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County.
