YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – The Rich Center for Autism is hosting an event at the Youngstown Playhouse on Sunday to support the center.
The event includes live entertainment and food. The symphony will take place Sunday night.
April is National Autism Awareness Month. The Rich Center for Autism provides families in the valley with a number of resources for free. The center has a lot of fundraisers to raise money so the best services can be provided to students.
Melanie Carfolo, the Executive Director of the Rich Center, says they have many events planned for April.
The Rich Center provides more than just education with services such as different therapies. The last fundraiser allowed the center to buy 45 iPads for the students to help provide different services.
According to Melanie Carfolo, many students are nonverbal and use the iPads as communication devices. The iPads are also used as educational tools, but particular applications put on the iPads allow the students to communicate.
The Rich Center provides services to students up to 21 years old.
